Easy Crockpot Beef Stroganoff With Golden Mushroom Soup
09/17/2003
This is a WONDERFUL recipe! Make sure you do these 5 things, yet: 1. Use "Condensed Gold Mushroom" soup. The regular Cream of Mushroom doesn't have the larger pieces of mushrooms. 2. Substitute one/iv loving cup beef goop for one/4 water. 3. Use 4 oz. sour cream instead of foam cheese. 4. Add one/ii t. pepper for a tiny little (only necessary) kick. 4. Simply before adding the sour cream, mix 1 T. corn starch with 2 T. cold water, then add this mixture to stroganoff. This gives it the necessary extra thickness. And so, enjoy this FABULOUSLY delicious and simple to make dish!

Wow! For my husband and I to agree that a dish is worthy of five stars is very rare. This was a corking comfort nutrient dinner, perfect afterwards a very long day, and then easy to make. And I take never made homemade stroganoff earlier! I fabricated some changes, based on Jillybean14's review, who summed up the 500+ reviews on here (thank you!). To practise what Jillybean did, and salve others some time, here is what all these reviews say to do: one)Add some table salt, pepper, and garlic to the pot. 2) Double the meat. 3) Double the soup and water but keep worchestshire and cream cheese the same. iv)Add ane/2 packet onion soup mix to mixture. 5)Melt on Low only for 5 hours. six) Add a dollop of sour foam besides when adding cream cheese. vii) Add sauteed fresh mushrooms (about 4-six oz) 1/2 hour before serving. 8) Serve over egg noodles. I followed these suggestions, and now my husband, who is a big fan of Hamburger Helper, wants this instead and thinks I am the stroganoff goddess. =) A keeper for the recipe box! I will make this often.
09/14/2006
I think I've found my new favorite comfort food. This was really skillful. I used two pounds of round steak (just don't similar stew meat), 2 cans of golden mushroom soup, added some onion soup mix (for flavour), and one/2 loving cup water (I similar gravy). To assistance the foam cheese melt easier, cube and soften it before adding. I like the thought of using cream cheese rather than the traditional sour foam because if yous're lucky enough to have leftvovers, information technology reheats nicer than sour foam. I tin't wait to make it again!

It actually irks me when i come on hither to get a good recipe with a expert rating and people's reviews are all about the changes they made. I dont have fourth dimension to read everyones reviews with all the changes to make this recipe "better'. Rate the recipes as is and if you have modifications or modify then mail a new recipe!!!!!!!

v stars for a groovy easy recipe for the busy on-the-go parent! Doubled the sauce!!! Added 1/ii tsp of fresh minced garlic, i/two packet of dry Italian-style salad dressing and 1/2 packet of Lipton's dry onion/ beefy/ mushroom soup mix to give the stroganoff extra flavor complexity. Subbed low sodium beef broth for the water, and low sodium worcestershire for the regular. Added sauteed mushrooms one/two hour prior to the finish and stirred in sour cream to taste prior to serving! Helpful hint: Check the intensity of your crockpot as some are "hotter" than others and you may not need to cook the stroganoff the total viii hours as the recipe lists. Thanks Jessica - bully recipe!
01/29/2002
This tastes really good, but I found that because I floured and browned the meat (which naturally thickens the sauce) and added fresh mushrooms (which absorb a LOT of wet), I increased the water to a full cup and all the same would have been happy with a thinner sauce. I liked the flavor enough to requite this another try - this fourth dimension no mushrooms and with a full soup can of water. I as well recollect I'll apply traditional sour cream instead - the cream cheese tasted very expert, but I recollect the texture of the sour cream volition suit my tastes better. That'south the dazzler of this recipe - information technology'due south a bang-up place to take off & tinker to your preferences!

Cheers! Give thanks Y'all! Thank You lot! My married man is the pickiest eater in that location is and he loved this. Hamburger Helper Stroganoff has been my hubby'south favorite since he was a little boy. I hated making it but did for him, till last night, I put my foot down and told I wanted to try this recipe. He hates mushroom and I did not really think he would like information technology. He ate a HUGE basin at dinner, then pulled out the leftovers shortly before going to bed and ate Another HUGE Basin. He told me he like this more than than his favorite stroganoff. I used some of the other suggestions. I keep the meat(1 lb.), worcestershire(one tbls.), and cream cheese(iv oz) the aforementioned. I doubled the soup(2 cans) and water(1/ii cup).I omitted the onions (hubby hates them) simply I did add one-half a pack of the lipton onion soup mix. Thank y'all so much for this recipe. I am sure I will exist making this for a LONG time.
11/09/2002
Crawly over egg noodles. Replace the water with sherry and substitute i packet onion soup mix for the onions. YUMMY!!!
11/25/2002
I am thrilled, thrilled, THRILLED to have institute this recipe. My husband loves when I brand stroganoff, but I hate all the work involved. Per the other reviewers' suggestions, I used sour cream, as well as the onion soup packet. Wonderful! I threw in a jar of mushrooms toward the end of cooking - I had a very happy husband! Cheers for the Easy and succulent recipe!
09/xv/2006
I admittedly loved this recipe! It was soooo easy, AND, much better than other stroganoff recipes that I have used (I've used one recipe that called for sour cream, foam cheese, and foam soup.........clogged arteries!!!) I took the advice of some other reviews and I added a parcel of dried onion soup mix. When I added the cream cheese at the terminate, I also threw in two handfuls of fresh mushrooms. It was the perfect touch. I will be adding this recipe to my permanent collection!!
01/02/2011
I made this for the first time last night and followed the recommendations of Jillybean and others. I used: ii pounds cubed sirloin steak 2 cans golden mushroom soup 1 big chopped onion 2 cloves garlic minced 1/ii pound sliced mushrooms i tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 1 teaspoon pepper i/2 cup beefiness broth 1 pack onion soup mix 4 ounces foam cheese, softened. four ounces sour cream All but cream cheese and sour cream went into the crockpot and cooked for 6 hours, served over noodles and information technology was OMG Skilful! Thanks for sharing
01/27/2009
I am only giving this iv stars since I did take the advice of many reviewers and modified the recipe quite a chip. Instead of using a slow cooker, I cooked this in a dutch oven on top of the stove and information technology turned out actually adept. I served information technology over egg noodles, just my family likes information technology on rice better. I beloved the addition of the foam cheese instead of sour foam, too! Instead of buying exspensive stew meat, I bought a chuck roast and cut it upwards myself. ***Update: I made this again and didn't add the foam cheese due to non having any. It was still succulent. Probably not truly considered stroganoff, though. My family prefers it on rice, too.
10/26/2011
Jessica, thank you for posting this fantastic base recipe, I like many others did not follow information technology to the letter, but without your recipe wouldnt have tried it at all! I give this 5 stars because your base recipe is the cornerstone of it all! I always read the reviews of any recipe I am going to effort, and then make my own changes accordingly. I had a few pounds of cube steak that I wanted to use up and brand tender, and this fit the nib...I sliced some onions thick and layered them offset, then I cut up the cube steak, didnt brown or flour it at all....put in one-half a pack of beefy onion soup, tablespoon of Lea and perrins, cup of water, two cans of golden mushroom soup (we like a thick gravy here, lol) and well-nigh a heaping teaspoon of ground pepper....let that all simmer in the crock pot for virtually 5 hours...then added about 8 oz of fresh sliced mushrooms...let it melt on low another 60 minutes...so added half a bar of low fatty cream cheese and then 8oz of sour cream...served over wide egg noodles and it was a HUGE striking in my household of three...fabricated enough that we had it once again concluding night and it tasted even better! Great apply for cube steak btw, a proficient cheap option...Thank you once more Jessica, this volition be a staple in my house this winter!
03/03/2009
And then many reviewers said follow jillybean14's suggestions - I finally found her on page 45. To help out, here is what she suggests: (1) add salt, pepper and garlic, (2)double the sauce only go along the foam cheese and worchestershire the aforementioned, (3) use Golden Mushroom, not Cream of Mushroom or don't make this at all, (4) reduce the cooking time to about 5-6 hrs. on low (v) add a "dollup" of sour cream when you lot add the cream cheese to get an extra "tang", (vi) add a boullion cube, (7) add together a half parcel of onion soup mix, (viii) serve over egg noodles (9) add together sauteed mushrooms, about ane/2 an hour before serving.
09/05/2002
Peachy recipe! I did modify it a little bit. I used a round steak and coated it with flour and browned it before I put it in the crock pot. I also added a can of beef broth to the mix and used the whole brick of cream cheese. Turns out not bad every time!
06/26/2007
Married man'south first words were..."This is crawly." This turned out great and was super easy. Perfect for a cold winter evening or visitor! However I did add a few things and made a few elementary changes after looking at a couple of the other recipes. Here is what I did. 1 can of gilded mushroom soup and half can of cream of mushroom, whole package of fresh sliced mushrooms, 3 sliced green onions and half a chopped yellow onion. 1 can of beef broth instead of any h2o. I seasoned the cubed stew beef with seasoning salt ( and if yous melt it on low for 6-viii hours information technology does NOT toughen up, ours was sooo tender! So save a few bucks and get the stew meat!). Cooked on low for 6 hours and served over buttered noodles with parsley. I would really add more mushrooms next time. The final hour I put in 8 oz of low fat sour cream and 3 heaping tablespoons of nonfat cream cheese. I then took 1 tbls of corn starch (you lot could apply flour) and mixed it with milk to thicken the sauce. It was pretty thick already so I would merely add it if y'all similar a thicker sauce. Putting the foam cheese in the last hour gave it enough of fourth dimension to combine and cook downward and so it was not mesomorphic. Perfection!!
04/xvi/2012
I made a lot of changes based on reviews. I utilize following: ii lbs stew meat, 2 cans gold cream of mushroom, 1 med onion diced, 2 cloves garlic minced, ane beef bullion, 2T Worcestershire. Sauce, 1 pkt onion soup mix, i/2 c.-ish beef goop, sliced mushrooms, & 4 oz. cream cheese. Cook 8 hours on low and add together foam cheese about 30-hour before serving. I've made this dozens of times and I no longer measure and information technology e'er turns out great. Since there is just 2 of us and I don't want left overs I use 1 lb stew meat, 1 can gilded mushroom soup in a smaller crockpot on low for v-half dozen hours and everything else the same and it's nonetheless good.
05/21/2012
Always on the lookout for sure-burn down boring cooker meals and this was keen, then thanks Jessica and besides JILLYBEAN14 and other reviewers. (Given that I followed Jilly's modifications.) Received compliments all around for this. Definitely a keeper to make once again, nice comfort fare.
01/12/2011
My married man thought it to be a scrap bland as far equally flavor goes, but I only added some more than Worcestershire sauce to the dish one time it was washed and information technology tasted a lot better, other than that I simply used sour foam instead of foam cheese and this dish was super yummy! Thanks for the recipe, I'll definitely go far again!
11/01/2005
Wow! Simply succulent! We will for sure make this again and again. I did all the alterations recommended by other reviewers though. ii lb stew meat, 2 cans soup, ane/two loving cup beefiness broth instead of water, added salt, pepper and garlic powder, i/2 packet onion soup mix, sauteed mushrooms in butter and added at end and dollop of sour cream. Cooked on low five hrs. Information technology was to DIE for! Nosotros served over egg noodles with a side of boiled potatoes with a butter/dill sauce. Its also bang-up warmed up the next twenty-four hours!
09/06/2010
And I have never fabricated homemade stroganoff earlier! I made some changes, based on Jillybean14'due south review, who summed up the 500+ reviews on hither (thanks!). To practise what Jillybean did, and salve others some time, hither is what all these reviews say to do: ane)Add some salt, pepper, and garlic to the pot. 2) Double the meat. 3) Double the soup and water but keep worchestshire and cream cheese the same. 4)Add 1/2 packet onion soup mix to mixture. 5)Cook on Depression simply for 5 hours. 6) Add a dollop of sour cream as well when calculation cream cheese. 7) Add sauteed fresh mushrooms (about four-6 oz) 1/2 hr before serving. 8) Serve over egg noodles.
01/26/2014
I found this recipe v years agone and simply now deciding I should add together my two cents - I like to recollect I've perfected information technology, somewhat. For the more picky cook, information technology helps to brown your beef. No demand to, only information technology definitely brings out more season. We're 2 guys so ane pound of beef just doesn't cutting it for wanting to have this for dinner for a few nights, so I sometimes double or triple the recipe, peculiarly if nosotros're having company. I toss in a scrap more actress worcestershire sauce, similar well-nigh one tablespoon extra. I've spent quite a bit of time in Russia and can tell you this niggling recipe would (and HAS) satisfied a picky Russian... and those Russians know their stroganoff! ;-) As others have said, a cube of beef bouillon doesn't injure but if you think it needs more seasoning, go for it! I always add together a bear on of Cajun seasoning to spice it up a chip, but I have Cajun roots then, that'southward just me. Finally, I ALWAYS add mushrooms near the end. Take an 8oz or more pack of baby bellas, slices em up, toss them in a pan and sauté with some butter, then set up aside. In the terminal hr or two of cooking, toss them in and stir. Seriously, you lot gotta exercise this. Information technology adds the authentic stroganoff taste and texture and jacks upwardly the recipe a fleck if you're feeding a hungry family. Excellent recipe - this recipe is the reason I've get a slow cooker guy and I'd love to come across the person who posted information technology and shake their hands or requite 'em a hug. It's merely that good!!
12/01/2011
Run across JillyBean14's Review which I copied here: I read most all of the 400+ reviews and made modifications based on them. To salve everyone else some fourth dimension, here's what they say to do (and what I did...and it came out slap-up): (1) add salt, pepper, and garlic, (ii) double the sauce but keep the foam cheese and worcestershire the same, (3) use Gilt Mushroom, not Cream of Mushroom or don't make this at all, (4) reduce the cooking time to about 5-half dozen hours on low, (five) add together a "dollup" of sour cream when you add together the cream cheese to get an extra "tang", (vi) add a bullion cube, (seven) add a half bundle of onion soup mix, (viii) serve over egg noodles, (9) add sauteed mushrooms about 1/two an 60 minutes before serving. I know this isn't true to the original recipe, merely I trusted others and I think it helped. Great slow-cooker recipe. I froze the leftovers (egg noodles and all) in my Seal-a-Meal and so just boiled the bag to reheat. It was great the second time around! The only thing I did differently was skip the onion soupd mix - can't stand it. Whole family LOVED this recipe. Highly recommend it!!
11/12/2005
I cannot believe this is five stars. My married man and I did non like this at all. I have been cooking since I was twelve and I am known by family and friends to exist an awesome cook, so I was a little embarrassed when hubby asked me not to make this again.
02/27/2007
I fabricated this using the exact recipe. Because of my piece of work schedule mine concluded upwardly cooking on low for near 10 hours. My only regret is that for some reason my onions never got soft. Adjacent time I'll saute them a bit kickoff. The ingredients were simple, and we liked the cease effect. We'll definately exist making this again!
01/29/2003
Okay this is a expert basic recipe. I double the recipe. Used half golden mushroom and one-half roasted garlic cream of mushroom soup. Added one parcel beefy onion soup mix. Also added some cooking sherry (1/4 cup). An hour or so before serving, added fresh sliced mushrooms (nearly 1.5 cups).
10/27/2011
I took some of the suggestions from other readers and added some actress mushrooms and more meat. I used the golden mushroom soup and also added a tin can of beefy mushroom soup and eliminated the proposition of onion soup. I added some pepper and garlic. I did not utilize Foam Cheese as I don't treat the foam cheese flavor in casseroles - it just seems to overpower everything else. I used about a loving cup of sour cream as I had a lot of sauce. If I were to make it once more, I'd probably non employ the second can of soup as in that location was just so much sauce. That said, married man and I enjoyed this a lot and I'll probably make it again with a few adjustments to strive for that 5th. star.
02/01/2010
this is really good Equally LONG AS YOU MAKE THE FOLLOWING CHANGES: (Jillybean14 read all the reviews and summarized the changes that needed to be made. These are her changes) 2 pounds cubed beef stew meat 2 cans golden mushroom soup i/two cup chopped onion 1/two packet of dry onion soup mix 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce 1/two cup water iv ounces cream cheese spoonful of sour cream Follow the directions listed on the recipe. Add together a bit of salt, pepper & garlic to the pot along with everything else. Stir in spoonful of sour cream at the same fourth dimension you stir in cream cheese. my 4 yr old and 2 year old couldn't get enough of this. I served it over wide-cut egg noodles. It was done in exactly five hours on low. I volition definitely make this once more. remember - don't sub the gilded mushroom soup. information technology has to be golden mushroom.
01/07/2015
Extremely bland, and the cream cheese left trivial chunks considering of combining it with heat (didn't consider at the time).
11/14/2006
I'yard non certain what went incorrect, but mine burned to the bottom! I followed the directions exactly! Did anyone else accept this problem????
01/18/2003
The premise of this recipe is fine only it lacks seasoning. I added ane TBL extra worstershire, 1/3 cup white vino, 1 TBL dijon mustard, .5 TSP dried dill, .75 TSP nutmeg, common salt and pepper, ane tin drained mushrooms. I as well substituted lite sour cream for cream cheese. It was fantabulous.
11/07/2010
Awesome. I similar simple recipes with a lot of leftovers, so I read over some reviews and came up with this. 2lbs stew meat, iii cans Golden Mushroom soup, 4oz cream cheese, 1/iv cup sour foam, 1tbs Worcestershire sauce, and instead of onions or water, I substituted in a can of french onion soup. This also eliminated the onion soup mix. Pepper to taste. I LITERALLY dropped everything in the crockpot on loftier and went to piece of work for 5 hours. Came back subsequently, prepared the noodles and spooned over the yummy mixture. Super like shooting fish in a barrel, super yum.
03/05/2014
I tried this adding 8 oz. of mushrooms,a loving cup of ruby wine and 2 tbsp. of beef bullion. I seared the meat, browning information technology just not fully cooking it. Best stroganoff we've e'er had.
08/twenty/2005
Amazing, this is then absolutely wonderful, very piece of cake. The cream cheese was lumpy though, next time I will take out some sauce and whisk the foam cheese into that then add to the mixture. I likewise added 2tbsp of sour cream, sauteed mushrooms, table salt pepper, garlic and boullion. I would double the recipe if you are making this for four or more adults. Thanks for a great recipe.
x/xx/2011
My husband said this is the best stroganoff he has ever had. I used ground meat instead of the cube meat (only considering my kids will eat the basis meat). I also could not find golden mushroom soup and so I used roasted garlic and mushroom soup instead. And I used beef broth in identify of the h2o. The taste was wonderful and I will be making this version from now on.
04/22/2009
I read most all of the reviews and fabricated modifications based on them; and here they are (and what I did...and it came out absolutely delicious!): (i) add salt, pepper, and 3 cloves minced garlic, (two) double the soup (3) utilise Aureate Mushroom, NOT cream of mushroom! (iv) reduce the cooking fourth dimension to about v-6 hours on depression, (5) apply ii oz cream cheese and a dollop sour cream (6) add a bullion cube, (seven) add a one-half package of onion soup mix (8) add sautéed mushrooms about i/2 an hour before serving. Mine came out rather thin, and then it might help if you glaze the meat in flour earlier cooking it. Oh, and I used Venison instead of beefiness, and none of my family could tell. I know this isn't true to the original recipe, but I trusted the other reviews and I'm glad I did! 5 stars to the modified recipie, merely three to this bones (and rather banal) recipie! (Special thanks to Jillybean14 and MomSavedbyGrace!)
07/15/2005
I love stroganoff only was looking for a new recipe for it. This recipe was fantabulous!!! I used two cans of soup and too added ane/2 pkg. of onion soup mix and i can of beef broth instead of water. The beef was so tender. I can't wait to brand it again! Thanks Jessica!
11/24/2009
E'er looking for something new to make cause the simpler information technology is the improve my husband likes information technology. We both enjoyed this meal, I had a package of beef ribs in the freezer I used for the meat. I almost forget the cream cheese and because it wasn't thick at that point, I added almost a tablespoon of cornstarch to thicken the gravy, then I remembered the cream chesse. I similar mushrooms, he doesn't so I sauteed them and put them on my portion only. Both of u.s.a. were happy! I'll be calculation this to my recipes. Thank you for sharing!
09/07/2009
So Expert!! Cooked overnight on low in the crock pot. I left it on warm until dinner time. Doubled the recipe since I only had a two one/2 lb roast instead of the stew meat. But, really good anyways.
ten/14/2002
This is a adept, easy recipe, although I practice think that it's missing something. It needs some spices to jazz it upwards. I will brand it once again, just the next time I will add oregano and perchance some flour to thicken the gravy. I'll also double the recipe, since it made plenty for my husband and I to share for dinner with a piffling left over for his lunch the side by side mean solar day. I used sour cream instead of cream cheese. Rather than calculation the foam to the crock pot, I served it on the side so we could add together as much or as trivial as we wanted. I institute that it was just as good without. I served this over egg noodles which I prefer (more hearty). My husband gave this a 7 on a scale of 1-x.
06/09/2011
I followed the first reviewer's suggestions. They were swell. Added pepper and 3 cloves garlic. Doubled the soup and water. Practice not use Cream of Mushroom. Reduced the cooking time to about 6 hours on low and one/2 hour on high. Added a "dollup" of sour cream when I added the cream cheese. Added a beef bullion cube. Added a half packet of onion soup mix. Added viii oz bundle of sauteed mushrooms 1/two hr before serving. Served over egg noodles. Absolutely loved it! The beefiness was so tender and the sauce was tasty! I as well served it with bread to soak up the extra sauce. I froze the leftovers.
03/25/2002
WOW!! A real keeper! I added canned mushrooms, salt and pepper. At the cease I added the cream cheese (3 oz) first then added nigh a one/four cup of sour foam. I retrieve the combo of the foam cheese and sour cream is perfect.
ten/02/2006
Fabricated this for the first time for company, and information technology was a hit! I used 2lbs. bottom circular steak cut into cubes, two cans golden mush soup, 1/2 parcel dry onion soup mix, and sauted half dozen oz sliced fresh mushrooms, and poured it in pot with juices, and a little xtra cream cheese since I used 2 cans soup. Followed recipe for the rest. Served over buttered noodles with a side of green peas, and breadstuff for dipping upwardly the delicious gravy! Can't go wrong with this winner...
04/22/2011
Very expert, substituted beef broth for water, added some granulated garlic, and substituted sour foam for cream cheese.Served over egg noodles.
04/10/2010
this recipe is perfect the way it is. to everyone that feels the demand to charge per unit information technology based on changes that they take made personally, why don't you submit your own recipe and rate this one for what it is? how insulting. and, lastly, thanks, jessica! our family unit (of 6) all dear this recipe exactly like you wrote it!
08/09/2003
This recipe was very good. I made just equally it was written. Next time I volition utilise sour cream instead of cream cheese and I will effort white wine in place of the h2o.
02/05/2014
I don't normally treat beefiness stroganoff; still, I made this terminal night (with the recommendations from billyjean14)and loved it. I am reposting the recommendations from billyjean14 that I followed: I read almost all of the 400+ reviews and made modifications based on them. To relieve everyone else some time, here'southward what they say to do (and what I did...and it came out peachy): (i) add together salt, pepper, and garlic, (2) double the sauce only keep the cream cheese and worcestershire the same, (3) employ Gold Mushroom, non Cream of Mushroom or don't make this at all, (4) reduce the cooking time to almost v-half-dozen hours on low, (5) add a "dollup" of sour cream when you add the cream cheese to become an extra "tang", (6) add a bullion cube, (seven) add a one-half parcel of onion soup mix, (viii) serve over egg noodles, (9) add sauteed mushrooms about 1/2 an hour before serving. I know this isn't true to the original recipe, but I trusted others and I think it helped. Great tiresome-cooker recipe. I froze the leftovers (egg noodles and all) in my Seal-a-Meal and and then merely boiled the pocketbook to reheat. It was great the second time around!
12/28/2014
I don't think I volition ever make beef stroganoff with sour cream again. This was so delicious and both me, my fiance and all-time friend said it was amazing! I did brand a couple of adjustments simply pretty much stuck to the recipe. I used 2lbs of meat, 2 cans of the gilded mushroom soup and added some chicken bullion pulverization, garlic common salt, steak house seasoning and some pepper. I didn't measure one/2 loving cup of onion; instead I just used half of a large yellow onion and finally added a third of a 16oz packet chopped mushrooms. Correct before I added the cream cheese I sauted the remainder of the mushrooms and added to the crock pot. Then added the 4oz of foam cheese. I took out a big amount (about half or a picayune more) of the liquid in the crockpot and boiled it in a sauce pan, calculation a teeny bit of butter (less then a tbsp) and some corn starch until it thickened up a bit and poured it back into the crockpot, turned off the heat and let sit for about ten minutes to continue thickening. Served over egg noodles and was astonishing! I am making some this night and am going to serve information technology with some grilled asparagus.
09/05/2014
I made this recipe equally written in the beginning and though it very bland. Tried to spice it up with garlic powder, onion powder and pepper, still non very flavorful, although we did like it. Lamentable, simply I have to requite it but 3 stars.
09/04/2003
I agree with the previous reviewer: this dish has little taste. The recipe is sorely defective in seasoning and creating flavour depth. The one matter I did similar was how tender the meat came out through the irksome cooking process. Seasonings are really needed, such as table salt and pepper, garlic, beef bouillon and/or broth, perhaps even a impact of tomato paste. I besides think that browning the meat and onions (also as mushrooms) would result in a much fuller flavor, so I'll practise that next time. And, the cream cheese just does not work in stroganoff – sour cream would much better and cosign this dish. Although I wasn't impressed, it's definitely a dish I can tinker with. : ) Folks - meet "Daria's Irksome Cooker Beef Stroganoff" on this site. That recipe looks MUCH better.
09/28/2010
OK this is an awesome base recipe. Equally I was reading the other reviews and preparing it, I did make some suggested adjustments. My family asked for this all the time. (1) add salt, pepper, and garlic, (2) double the sauce but go on the cream cheese and worcestershire the aforementioned, (3) utilise Aureate Mushroom or don't make this at all, (4) reduce the cooking fourth dimension to almost 5-6 hours on low, (v) add a "dollup" of sour cream when you add the cream cheese to become an actress "tang", (6) add a beef bullion cube, (7) add a one-half package of onion soup mix, (eight) serve over egg noodles, (9) add together sauteed mushrooms about ane/2 an hour before serving.
07/28/2011
This was really really adept! I doubled the sauce but left the worcestershire and cream cheese the same. Had it 2 nights in a row and it was succulent.
12/07/2011
Doubled, and too added 1/2 cup red vino, LOTS of pepper, and fresh garlic. Y U One thousand Chiliad Y!!!
09/06/2011
This is my to the lowest degree favorite Stroganoff recipe that I have made. I prefer regular cream of mushroom soup over the golden mushroom soup in this recipe. I would definitely recommend doubling the sauce mixture as the recipe as written didn't make enough for 4 servings.
09/thirty/2005
I made a double batch of this the start time. I am expecting our first baby, and so I wanted to put some meals in the freezer. I split information technology and froze information technology in two separate foodsaver numberless to make reheating in boiling water easy. We had it concluding night. It'south FABULOUS. Since I made a double batch, I took some suggestions from previous reviewers. I added a package of onion soup mix, some garlic and two jars of mushrooms. I also browned the meat before flinging information technology in the slow cooker. I cooked it on low for viii hours. Information technology reheats beautifully. We weren't certain about the cream cheese, but information technology really is quite practiced! Try this one with no reservations. Volition brand over and over again (I'grand going to make a lot since I have a huge tedious cooker.)

I seasoned my beef prior to putting in the slow cooker with paprika, garlic pulverisation and southward&p. I too added a beef burgoo cube for extra flavor. Next time may add the onion soup mix to run across how it tastes. Added sauteed mushrooms nearly 45 minutes before information technology was finished. Overall information technology was actually yummy. My only complaint is that meat was a picayune tough though (cooked 8 hours on low).

Served this for dinner terminal nighttime. My whole crew..fifty-fifty my picky daughter loved information technology..yay!! I had some left over grilled steak that I used, rather than the stew meat. I didn't have aureate mushroom soup, and so I used reg. mushroom soup. I added a parcel of french onion soup mix, garlic, basil & paprika. I used beef broth, rather than water. I cooked on depression for 4 hours. I didn't run into yous weren't supposed to add the cream cheese until the end, but it still turned out bully. I served over homestyle noodles & topped with fresh basil. Volition definitely make again. Thanks for sharing!

I jazzed this recipe up, post-obit the communication of some others. Start, I coated the beef with the flour, salt, and pepper and browned information technology. I added beef broth instead of h2o; I eliminated the onion and used a bundle of onion soup mix instead; I likewise added one Tbs. of lycopersicon esculentum paste and ane Tbs. of horseradish. I placed fresh thyme and sage while it was cooking, but removed them when I added 2 oz. of onion and chive cream cheese and 2 oz. sour cream.

Great! Extremely easy - in that location is naught to this, I kept on staring at the recipe to see what I was forgetting to do/add to the pot but didn't observe anything. Sometimes I think we forget that simple brand-up leads to severely simple tastes extroadinaire! Perfect consistency and perfectly delicious! I through in some carrots and added a little cumin to the slow cooker then served with some egg noodles that I coated with butter and common salt. Next time I might throw in some potatoes into the slow cooker with the stroganoff for more of a stew like all-in-one repast. Note I use egg noodles b/c my husband prefers noodles to rice however, I think this would be crawly over rice. Delicioso!
ten/16/2009
This was Excellent!!! I doubled the sauce, added mushrooms, garlic and more worch. Had with egg noodles. I'yard starting to try to eat healthier... so I prob won't make this likewise much but this volition exist 1 of my spoiled recipes.
01/17/2004
Turned out nifty...As per prior suggestion, I substitued beef broth for the h2o in the original recipe. I also substituted the golden mushroom for Campbells Condensed Mushroom with Garlic for a little extra kick. I browned the meat first for virtually 5 min., then cooked on high in crockpot for nigh 5 hours. Thanks for the recipe!
09/03/2011
Succulent & Piece of cake TO Make! My adjustments: 1 1/two# Round Steak, 24 oz can Cream of Mushroom Soup, Onion (sm/med), 1 T Worcestershire Sauce, 1/2 c water + 1 beef bouillion cube, Pkt of Onion Soup Mix, S & P + garlic salt. ADDED ALL THESE INGREDIENTS TO CROCK POT ON LOW FOR 5 1/2 HOURS. And so ADDED: eight oz tin can Mushrooms, one/two brick of Cream Cheese, 4 (tablespoon size) dollops of Sour Cream. COOKED Another ane/ii HOUR. Served over Egg Noodles.
04/22/2011
Fabricated this for my family coming over for dinner. Had no Aureate Mushroom so just used the regular Cream of Mushroom soup and it was still great. Anybody gobbled it down. Served with homemade broad noodles and garnished with a little sour cream and parsley. I wonder if the Gilt Mushroom soup would accept made that much of a difference.
01/18/2014
I never use my slow cooker considering I feel like I'm cheating in the kitchen, haha ha. (impaired huh?) I followed MomSavedbyGraces changes and loved it. Side by side I will attempt the wearisome cooker pepper steak.
07/27/2010
i fabricated the original recipe and wasnt crazy over information technology, idea it was bland, so i tweaked iti used two cans of condensed onion soup since i dont similar mushrooms in the first place, but i still added the chopped onion since i thought it added a flake of freshness to information technology. Likewise used one-half sour cream half cream cheese, to get it out of my refrigerator, and added some garlic, blackness pepper and just a few drops of hot sauce, and put it over some white rice. not a traditional stroganoff, but it tasted prissy, and since im never home its nice to have something you tin can dump in and leave for a few hours.
12/22/2010
And so good, I took everybody'southward suggestions and used half cream cheese one-half sour cream and added a whole pack of onion soup mix. so good the married man ate ii huge bowls of it!
03/16/2014
This recipe was a hit with my zoo crew tonight for supper!! I didn't apply fresh onions I adjusted the recipe for x servings which made the corporeality of onions 1 and 1/4 cups of onion...and I take a daughter staying at home right now that is breastfeeding sooo I made a pocket-size adjustment I substituted ane package of lipton bulky onion soup mix. and just as I was adding the foam cheese I added some freshly cooked broad egg noodles poured them right in the crock pot and stirred them in dash of salt and a dash of garlic pulverization and the kids and adults akin loved this...from my grandbaby who is 2 and my dad who is 66 cheers so much!!
ten/09/2006
Piece of cake and delicious. I added Lipton Onion Soup as suggested by others instead of an onion and will definitely brand this once more. It would be skillful over mashed potatoes besides!
03/fifteen/2010
This is 1 of my favourite recipes. The husband loves it and information technology's so prissy to come up home to dinner already made when I walk in the door, only cook some egg noodles and it'due south on the tabular array. I throw this together at night and put the whole crock pot in the fridge and just plug it in on my way out the door in the morning.I commonly make information technology with craven instead of beefiness, add mushrooms and employ herb and garlic flavoured cream cheese.
04/04/2011
I've made this a couple times now and each time theirs never whatever leftovers! The recipe is Not bad Every bit IS. Don't worry if you don't accept any golden mushroom soup considering the only divergence is the added mushrooms. So if you like mushrooms in yours only add some towards the end, unless you use fresh ones, so you can put them in in the commencement. The merely thing I changed was to add garlic salt. We dear salty food and I cook with garlic in just well-nigh everything! Thanks for a corking like shooting fish in a barrel comfort nutrient!
08/20/2013
This recipe every bit is its banal and overcooked. If you have to add together 15 things to brand it edible then this recipe should never have gotten the rating it has. Salvage your nutrient and make something else.
01/sixteen/2011
Yummy! I doubled the original recipe and added a tin of mushrooms, salt, pepper, garlic, crushed reddish pepper, and a big dollop of sour foam. Served over egg noodles. Hubby an I LOVED it! information technology was very easy and smelled corking cooking on a chilly wintertime day, i volition exist making this once more.
02/17/2015
Tried this twice... Once every bit written and in one case once again with modifications. Equally written, it's a proficient basic recipe. With additions that I made, it'south outstanding. Add 1/ii pkt onion soup mix, 1/4 cup ruby vino and a good sprinkle of garlic powder. Cooked ane lb frozen venison steaks on high for four hours. Shredded the meat and added the cream cheese. Dynamite! Couldn't finish licking the spoon :)
10/xxx/2011
This recipe is nifty as is! The simply other matter I added was pepper. You guys are nuts to add onion soup mix to this when in that location is already 700 milligrams of sodium per serving. Plenty of flavor without it.
07/17/2011
The original recipe seemed a scrap plain so I added sauteed mushrooms, extra onions, and some garlic. This probably helped a little. I enjoyed the sauce a lot. The meat wasn't equally tender as I would accept thought (cooked five hours on high), so next time I think I'll use ground beef...
03/04/2010
one word...AMAZING!! I followed JILLYBEAN14'south review exactly...the simply thing i will change next time is to non add extra table salt.
11/06/2012
Yummy! I made this with no changes except I got in a hurry and put the cream cheese in at the start time instead of at the end. It still worked out! And thanks to the Buzz folks that assured me it would be fine despite my fault.
02/23/2010
Loved it. I do add together a little Burgundy Vino to give it an authentic Stroganoff flavour. I likewise use half cream cheese and half sour cream.
02/10/2003
This recipe was fantastic! I doubled the recipe for my big, hungry family and there was simply enough left over for my husband to take to work the next solar day for lunch. I made a few changes based on other users comments. I added 1/4 cup cooking sherry & a pkg of onion soup mix and the upshot was very flavorful. I will definately exist making this once again at the request of my family.
02/25/2014
We ALL loved this!
10/12/2008
I rated this recipe simply iii stars because this recipe had to be adjusted to JELLYBEAN14 recommendations to run into the the 5 star quality. With JELLYBEAN14 modifications the Beef Stroganoff was 5 stars "The Best!". Here are JELLYBEAN14 recommendations & Thanks over again ;-) (1) add salt, pepper, and garlic, (ii) double the sauce but keep the cream cheese and worcestershire the same, (3) use Golden Mushroom, non Cream of Mushroom or don't make this at all, (4) reduce the cooking time to about 5-vi hours on low, (5) add together a "dollup" of sour foam when yous add the cream cheese to get an extra "tang", (6) add a bullion cube, (7) add together a half packet of onion soup mix, (viii) serve over egg noodles, (9) add sauteed mushrooms nigh one/2 an hr before serving.
11/27/2011
This was a wow for us, especially with such uncomplicated ingrediants. I ever make as-is the first time; I might add together some water chestnuts next time around just for some texture dissimilarity. Just information technology is delicious and elementary merely equally-written!
11/ten/2014
We liked this a lot. Took the advice of others and used golden mushroom soup and added beef flavoring and other seasonings!
02/25/2014
Then SO adept! My husband absolutely loved it, likewise. A huge winner that will exist in regular rotation. I did utilise JILLYBEAN14'southward suggestions, however, so I really tin't comment on the recipe on top. The simply thing that I could think of to make this meliorate is to double the recipe so in that location are plenty of leftovers! :)
02/25/2014
I followed exactly and I thought it was but okay. Looked great, smelled great...tasted okay.
12/30/2009
I fabricated this before and thought it was bland. So this fourth dimension I followed other reviewers and put everyone'due south review together and created the all-time stroganoff e'er! I used 2 cans mushroom soup fresh mushrooms 1/ii cup sour foam one/2 cup cream cheese i cup water with beef bouillon cube one tsp thyme 1 tsp parsley one Tb garlic powder ane/two TB salt & 1 package dried onion soup mix. and we served it over egg noodles. We all loved it! Then cheers for the good base recipe and thank you lot to the other reviewers!
10/16/2011
Read numerous reviews and took their suggestions and this was really, really good. I will actually utilize 16 oz. mushrooms (read reviews) next fourth dimension equally that was my favorite office. I could eat the sauce with but mushrooms and be content but my husband would miss the beefiness. Cheers for the recipe!
07/12/2007
This stroganoff was first-class! I have tips to cut the time way down in making this. 1st, read Jillybean's & momsavedbygrace's reveiws on what to practise different with ingredients. In addition to the above changes, I did the post-obit with mine: ane) used TENDERIZED ROUND STEAK instead of stew meat. THIS IS SO IMPORTANT FOLKS!! You can cook stew meat until the cows come up dwelling house & it will rarely get really tender. My mom buys pre-tenderized round steak and uses it in stews and similar dishes; information technology always turns out fantastic. Just cube the meat yourself in 5 minutes & yous'll shave hours off the melt time. 2)I added onion & garlic powder, common salt & pepper iii) Added almost a TBSPN of beef granuals 4) One eight oz package of pre-sliced mushrooms, sauteed in cooking spray & ane TBSPN or so of Olivio. Don't sautee mushrooms until they were soggy; go out a petty texture and bite to them every bit the soup mushrooms tend to disappear. 5) Added one very generous dallop of fat free sour cream (utilize Breakstones; yous'll never miss the fat). I take a new KitchenAid slow cooker which might be a little more than efficient than almost just I call up the meat is the key to less cook time. I cooked this for an hour & 15min on high, so 2 hours on slightly higher than low. It was perfect in 3 hours, twenty minutes (probably was done sooner but I wasn't home to check it). Tossed in the mushrooms correct before serving as well equally foam cheese and sour cream; no further cooking needed once that dissovles. FABULOUS!
03/07/2011
I prepared this recipe exactly as written - simply fair to practice it this way if I'1000 going to charge per unit it. When I think of stroganoff I recollect of a creamy sauce with a sour cream flavor and this recipe was not even a fiddling fleck creamy flossy only more gravy like. The golden mushroom soup nearly gives it a flake of a bite/tartness that I didn't care for at all - personal preference. The recipe calls for 8 hours on low, which I did, just this was way also long equally the gravy like sauce and meat were overcooked and slighly burned. This is not a recipe I will try again.
04/12/2003
This is a great recipe!!!! It is super like shooting fish in a barrel and tastes fabulous! I would only count on 2 servings. . . not iv!
01/17/2012
I was excited to try this particularly with such high ratings. I guess we are out of the norm here. My DH and I both agree that this but wasn't that good. Maybe it's because I don't usually cook with canned cream soups. This is basically meat and soup. I volition stick with my sometime standby recipe starting with a roux. Distressing.
12/23/2002
Very succulent and easy to prepare. I used strips of steak and I took the communication of others and used depression-fatty cream of mushroom soup and substituted cooking sherry for the water. Then two hours before serving, I stirred in fresh mushrooms. I used the light foam cheese to stir in earlier serving, so served light sour cream on the table to be used as desired. My stroganoff was served over a bed of fluffy white rice and made for a cute, delicious dinner. I highly recommend.
01/23/2011
My husband and I really liked this recipe. I took some of the advice of others only not all... I basically doubled the meat, the golden mushroom soup, the water and worcestershire sauce. Nigh an hour before it was done, I added a package of sliced fresh mushrooms to the crockpot. I kept the cream cheese the aforementioned (4 oz) and added 4 oz of sour cream. Information technology produced a lot of liquid and so next time I may even use three lbs of meat.
11/15/2011
Delicious! I fabricated with 1 lb. of beefiness, 2 cans of gold mushroom soup, 2 cloves of garlic, a whole onion and about 1/two packet of Lipton onion soup, 1 TBS. worcestershire sauce, four ounces of foam cheese and 1/iv c. beef boullion plus a couple T. water.
09/09/2014
Sour cream much amend than cream cheese,, very dry
06/09/2008
Coming from a German language-Russian family beef stroganoff has been a staple for every bit long as I can recall. I take a couple timeless recipes that are better- simply more time consuming. I will hang on to this when I am looking for something quick- which is pretty frequently. It came out great with all of the changes that were suggested in previous reviews- thank y'all JILLYBEAN14 for putting them all together. It saved a lot of fourth dimension. The only change I made was to add ane can of Golden Mushroom and on of Cream of Mushroom when doubling the sauce. Serve with bootleg egg noodles if you have them available... then much better than store bought!
03/05/2011
this was the all-time recipes for stroganoff my husband and I ever had. Showtime I sub. 1/4 loving cup of beef broth for the 1/four loving cup water then..I added some fresh mushrooms about ane hour earlier cookin was finished and used sour cream instead of the foam cheese just before serving. and added 1/2 tsp pepper for kick just earlier adding the sour cream I added 1 tbsp of corn starch mixed w/ 2tsp of water for thickness. It was wonderful
01/17/2005
OK, I alterd this recipe a little after reading several reviews and it was AWESOME! I used one lb of lean beef stew meat, 2 cans golden mushroom soup, 1 entire can of beef broth, i small can of sliced mushrooms, ane/2 onion and 1 TBSN of Worcheshire. I put it in the crock pot on high for one hr then turned it down for 4-5 more. I stirred in 1/two C of sour cream at the end and information technology was astonishing served over egg noodles. TRY It - Y'all WILL Beloved IT!
03/17/2010
Nosotros dear this and accept made it several times. Kickoff time I fabricated it I used foam cheese, 2d time - a combination of cream cheese and sour cream. While the foam cheese is fine, I remember the tartness of the sour cream is far better. I exercise double the meat and quadruple the sauce considering information technology tastes so great on those noodles and leftovers are wonderful.
